Local Telephone Service

Local telephone service is generally provided by LEC’s (Local Exchange Carriers) also known as wireline carriers. These companies define their local calling area by LATA’s (Local Access Transport Area). Many of the traditional local telephone service providers have become increasingly more competitive now that more than one carrier can provide service in a local calling area. Although LEC’s offer diverse product sets of services, many businesses choose to use local T-1’s, PRI’s or POT’s (Plain Old Telephone Service) for local service availability.

What are benefits of local service?

  • Flat rate local calling plans with extended local calling area
  • PRI/T-1 provides companies scalable and reliable service offerings
  • Merge local and long distance services with one carrier leveraging greater billing discounts.
